A husband and wife are facing jail sentences after admitting trying to pervert the course of justice following a fatal crash.
Father-of-four Stuart Powell and wife Carly have pleaded guilty to giving false accounts to police,who were probing the death of 26-year-old Whitstable motorcyclist Ryan Rudden.
Mr Rudden died after his Honda CBR1000 was hit by a blue Citroen C4 Picasso in Swale Way, Sittingbourne, at about 9.45pm, May 12, 2021.
A pillion passenger, Adam Davies, was taken to hospital and treated for serious injuries.
Now Stuart Powell, 34, has admitted charges of causing death and causing injury by driving dangerously.
He and wife Carly, 36, also admitted perverting the course of justice when they appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.
Powell admitted two charges relating to him telling police his car has been stolen and later hiding a mobile phone.
Carly has admitted telling police the car her husband was driving had been stolen.
The pair, of Miller Close, Kemsley, were given bail pending the preparation of probation reports prior to the sentencing hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on June 30.
But Judge Julian Smith warned them that the offences were "extremely serious" and both faced jailed sentences.
Powell was also given an interim driving ban.
After the crash, which happened near to the entrance to Milton Creek fishing lakes, tributes were paid to Mr Rudden who was born in Chatham.
