Drivers heading towards the M2 faced delays tonight after a crash blocked the A249 near Sittingbourne.

It is understood a vehicle overturned on the southbound carriageway between the B2006 at Bobbing and the A2 Keycol Hill (Key Street roundabout).

The blockage was cleared just before 10pm.

Traffic was held for a while so emergency services could deal with the accident.

Lane one of two remains closed for a vehicle to be recovered.
