A HEAD teacher has vowed to keep his school’s farm going despite an attack which left livestock injured, mutilated and traumatised.

A chicken was found bleeding, with a broken leg and all six ducks were stolen.

Jon Whitcombe, of The Westlands School in Sittingbourne, said: "I do not believe any student associated with the school can have had anything to do with depressing acts of mindless vandalism and we will not be closing down the farm.

"For the past few weeks there have been a number of what you could call low level vandalism incidents that have gradually got worse.

"A lot of farm implements had not only been broken but hurled at the cows and pigs, causing them a great deal of distress, so we decided we had to notify the police.

“Now there is a tremendous feeling in the whole school wanting whoever did this caught and severely dealt with."

Police crime management unit supervisor, Taff Gwilliam said: "To take these ducks out of an environment from which they were well looked after, is not only cruel, but has also caused distress to those caring for the animals."
