A passion for mini stock car racing earned a teenager a place on TV.

Fulston Manor pupil Alfie Jones appeared in the first episode of a two-part documentary called Fast and Fearless: Britain’s Banger Drivers.

Viewers of the show, which aired on BBC Two at 9pm on Sunday, would have seen the 13-year-old racing around a track at high speed in his stripped-out Mini.

It also featured shots of the cheeky redhead at work in the classroom after the film crew visited the school.

To help promote the show, he appeared live with Chris Evans on The One Show last Friday.
