A dog found in an "awful condition" with "lots of pressure sores" has been rescued after being discovered wandering the streets.
The male lurcher was found straying around Keycol Hill, Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, yesterday.
Swale council's stray dog service said the lost pet had pressure sores brought on by his "awful body condition" – a "sad state to be in at only two-years-old" it added.
He did have a microchip to an address outside of the borough, but the contact details were no longer in service.
The poorly pooch, called Tucker, has been treated for parasites and, luckily, none of his wounds were infected.
A stray dog service spokesman said that, after being seen by the vet last night, Tucker was now safe and warm at its kennels, enjoying a good dinner.
The service added that it would soon start the search for a foster home so Tucker could get some much-needed TLC.
Swale council has reminded people how to get in touch with the service if they find a stray dog.
A spokesman said: "When we picked him up, we took him to the vet as he's emaciated and has lots of pressure sores, some of which needed further attention.
“He does have a microchip, but unfortunately the details are outdated.
"We’ll be putting him into a foster home for further medical treatment and some extra TLC.
“If anyone finds a stray between 9am and 5pm on a week day, they need to call us on 01795 417850.
"If they find one after 5pm or during a weekend or bank holiday, they should call us on 07795 237479.”
The council advises people not to feed a dog while waiting for it to be collected.
