A police officer was allegedly headbutted while another was bitten by a man they were arresting on suspicion of drink driving.

Officers covering the Swale district described the actions as "unacceptable" in a tweet from the @KentPoliceSwale Twitter account this evening.

The tweet said: "#Team1 arrested a male for suspected drink driving. The arresting officer was headbutted and a second officer got bitten. #unacceptable."

The location and time of the arrest are not yet known.

Police have been approached for comment.
