Three men have been sentenced for drink driving.
Martin Couzins, who was found to be more than twice the legal drink-drive limit, has been banned from getting behind the wheel for two years.
The 45-year-old, of Playstool Close, Newington, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard how he was driving a Ford Fiesta along Bull Lane, Newington, on February 25 when he was stopped and breathalysed.
The reading was 92 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
As well as being disqualified from driving, he was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
Disqualification can be reduced by six months if Couzins completes a driving course by December 1, 2015.
A Murston man has been disqualified for 20 months. Tadas Albinas Akevicius, 21, pleaded guilty to the charge as well as driving with no insurance following an incident in London Road, Sittingbourne, on Monday, July 29.
Maidstone Magistrates’ Court heard how Akevicius, of All Saints’ Road, was driving a Volkswagen Golf when he was stopped and gave a breath test of 80 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
As well as the ban, magistrates fined him £300 for the drink driving offence and £200 for having no insurance. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
Another motorist has been banned for 18 months. Andrew Peter Thorne, of Fern Walk, Murston, admitted drink-driving when he appeared in court.
The 43-year-old was stopped while driving a Ford Fiesta in Danaway on April 30. A blood test revealed 172 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.
As well as losing his licence, Thorne was fined £110 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Disqualification can be reduced by 139 days if, by July 13 next year, he completes a driving course.
