A motorist has appeared in court accused of killing a woman in an early morning motorway crash.

Flight attendant Heidie Lee Locke, from Broadstairs, was killed on the M2 almost two years ago after a collision on the London-bound carriageway between Faversham and Sittingbourne.

Miss Locke, who was in her 50s and described as a "beautiful person" by her friends, was driving a red Nissan Qashqai when it collided with a red Mercedes-Benz at around 6am on November 27, 2022.

At the time, Sensenal Amaglo was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving.

The 42-year-old was later charged with causing death by dangerous driving and appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, October 22) , but didn’t enter a plea in relation to the charge.

The case against Amaglo, of Finn V C Estate, Bodmin, Cornwall was sent to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with and he is expected to appear there on November 18.

He was granted bail until then.

At the time of her death, Miss Locke's colleague, Teresa Delafons, paid tribute to her "lovely and caring" friend who was commuting from Broadstairs to Heathrow when the accident happened.

She said: "She was a beautiful person whose life was cut way too short. Heidi is a member of the United Airlines crew based out of London.

"She was always up for a laugh and kept us all entertained on our flights across to the USA.

“She was a lovely, caring person. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially all of us at United as well as Pan Am where she started her career."

A United Airlines spokesman said: "The United Airlines family is saddened to learn about Heidie’s passing. We have offered our deepest condolences to the family and continue to stay in touch with them during this difficult time."

The London-bound carriageway was shut for 10 hours while police carried out their investigation.
