Shoppers can take advantage of a free NHS health check today.
Nurses and health trainers will be at The Forum shopping centre, High Street, Sittingbourne, between 11am and 3pm to take visitors’ pulse, blood pressure, weight, height and cholesterol levels.
There’s no need to book and visitors can also pick up suggestions on healthy eating, easy exercises to keep fit and advice on how to quit smoking.
It has been arranged as part of NHS Swale Clinical Commissioning Group’s touring Beats and Breathes roadshow.
Organiser Karen Derrick said: “Most people will find they are surprisingly fit.
“But if there are any unexpected results we will suggest a visit to a GP for peace of mind.”
Every person tested gets their own health MoT “certificate” with their results and any guidance needed.
The health checks play a vital role in spotting long-term health problems such as diabetes, heart disease or breathing disorders. Early diagnosis can lead to more effective treatment and better management of the conditions.
As part of Dying Matters awareness week next month there will be information about how to ensure your final wishes are carried out and you get the health care you want, where you want it.
A new service called the My Wishes register is now available for Swale residents through GPs.
