A father-of-three attacked a drunken man who smashed his car windscreen while he was sitting in traffic with his family.
Roy Spicer lost his rag after shards of glass showered his partner and children when they were stuck in a queue in Sittingbourne.
Inebriated Kieran Spice smashed the windscreen and walked off but Spicer followed him.
When he caught up with him, magistrates were told he attacked him by punching him in the face.
The blow left Mr Spice unconscious but the angry 30-year-old dad continued to kick him as he lay on the ground.
While still unconscious, Spicer repeatedly punched him in the face.
Mr Spice’s injuries were so serious he had to undergo face reconstruction surgery and spent time in hospital recovering.
Spicer, of Debnam Grove, Great Easthall, Sittingbourne, was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and pleaded guilty when he appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on April 11.
The court heard the incident took place on August 26, last year, but it was not revealed during the hearing why Mr Spice had smashed the windscreen nor if he’d ever been charged over the incident.
James Nichols, prosecuting, said: “The victim was in drink and smashed the windscreen of the defendant’s car.
“He followed him and punched him and kicked him to the ground and he was rendered unconscious.
“He then repeatedly punched him to the face and the victim had to have face reconstruction surgery as a result.”
Geoff Playford, defending, told the court his client’s very young children and their mother had been in the car at the time the windscreen was shattered and his client was extremely upset about what had happened to them.
He added: “The physical attack, the version presented by the prosecution, is not exactly how he remembers it.
“He grabbed him and they fell over and he landed on top of him and it seems he hit his head on the tarmac and this may have been how he came by his injuries.
“He has no convictions and is a local businessman and he has entered an early guilty plea and I would suggest you could impose a suspended sentence.”
Magistrates decided their sentencing powers were insufficient and sent the case to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with and ordered a pre-sentencing report be carried out.
A date of his sentencing hearing is yet to be set and he was granted bail until then.
