An independent film about a woman who sabotages headphones makes its debut at Sittingbourne's The Avenue Theatre this Saturday.
The thriller Killahurtz was filmed on location in Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Medway and also used the Sittingbourne theatre in Central Avenue as a studio.
Director Al Carretta, who runs Nightpiece Media from his home in Marlborough Road, Gillingham, said: "We're back at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer with our latest film Killahurtz but it makes its debut at The Avenue Theatre in Sittingbourne this Saturday."
He added: "It is about a young woman facing potential deafness who happily repairs headphones until rejection drives her to an extreme form of sabotage."
The film stars Stacey Pomeroy from Medway as Juno and Anna Fraser from Crawley as an imposter. Al, who has written and directed the movie, also appears as the sinister DJ Ray Metallic.
The film is his 19th indie feature and runs for 74 minutes. It carries a suggested '15' rating.
His fourth film, The Devil Made Me Do It, which he shot in 2012, also went "ballistic" on streaming services last year during the coronavirus pandemic.
Al said: "It even made it's budget back! Not bad for an indie film with no marketing spend."
Last year he shot another lockdown feature in The Avenue called Saint Cecilia of Spiralence about a nun who has premonitions of the assassination of American president John F Kennedy.
That was filmed entirely on a set built on The Avenue's stage over 10 days and was finished in April just as lockdown restrictions were lifted.
Killahurtz will be shown at The Avenue at 3pm and then at the Edinburgh Fringe on August 24. It will be available on streaming streaming sites like Amazon from the end of this month.
