Teenagers shouting and keeping neighbours up at night has led to a police dispersal order being implemented in Sittingbourne.

There were numerous reports of antisocial behaviour involving a large group of teens in Sonora Fields last night.

In a Tweet, Kent Police Swale said: "#LPT1 Insp has authorised a #Section34 dispersal power for the #SonoraFields estate in #Sittingbourne over the weekend, following numerous reports of #ASB tonight, allowing officers to require people to leave the area and not return, if they do, risking arrest."

Cllr James Hunt (Con) who represents The Meads on Swale council, said: "It's a shame to hear that this has been necessary.

"Apparently it was a party that got out of hand, there were a lot of youths around.

"I was quite surprised to hear something had happened so hopefully it won't happen again.

"The police reacted quickly to it and put a stop to it and having the dispersal order in place this weekend means hopefully it won't reoccur.

"Resident are disappointed they had to deal with it and some didn't get to sleep until 1am but it was one of those one off incidents hopefully."

The order will last throughout the weekend and means anyone returning risks being arrested.
