The grieving family of a teen killed when a car crashed into an electricity pole paid tribute to him today.

Army cadet Jack Manning, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday after an incident on the A251 Ashford Road near Faversham.

In a statement released by Kent Police today, Jack's family, from Sheldwich, told of their grief.

It said: "Jack was the beloved son of Sarah and Tom, brother to Tilly and Sam.

"He was a keen Army Cadet serving with the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, achieving the rank of Sergeant and was going to train as an Army Cadet instructor.

"Jack was hoping to join the parachute regiment in 2011.

"Jack loved life and lived it to the full and wanted to be the first to try everything!

"Coming from a large extended family Jack always loved being part of all the get-togethers and was really close to all his cousins.

"Our lives will never be complete without him and Jack will be sadly missed by all his family and friends."

Jack died when a silver Vauxhall Corsa travelling towards Faversham, close to the junction with the M2, collided with a wooden electricity pole.

The teenager was passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene after treatment by paramedics.

The male driver was airlifted to hospital in London with serious chest and pelvic injuries.
