A burger made using a local woman’s recipe will be eaten by millions of people across the country this week.
Tammy Rose, who lives in Sittingbourne with her husband and children, designed ‘The Big Uno’ burger as part of a nationwide McDonald’s competition.
There were 98,000 entries and Tammy’s creation was chosen as one of the five that will be sold in 1,200 outlets for a limited period.
People initially voted for the burger they thought was the best and the 11 shortlisted were tasted by experts.
The judging panel, which included England rugby legend and Celebrity MasterChef winner Phil Vickery, decided Tammy’s burger was one of the tastiest.
‘The Big Uno’ features a beef patty, topped with cheese, bacon, red onion, lettuce, ketchup and cool mayo inside a sesame seed bun.
The amateur chef said of her win: “I can’t believe that I am a My Burger winner and that this week people will be able to walk into any McDonald’s restaurant in the UK and order a burger that I have created.
“I’m so excited and I can’t wait to go down to my local McDonald’s in Sittingbourne with my family so they can taste The Big Uno too!”
Paul Crocker, Sittingbourne McDonald’s frachisee, said: “I am delighted that Tammy’s burger was chosen by the judges as I know that she is a regular visitor to our Sittingbourne restaurants.
“It is great that someone from the local area has won the competition and I can’t wait to try the burger that Tammy has designed!”
