Firefighters have been called out to tackle a grass blaze thought to have started from a bonfire.
One fire engine was sent to The Street in Borden, near Sittingbourne, at about 3.50pm where about 2.5 acres of field was alight.
Eye-witness, Matt Barnes, said the cause looked to be from an out of control bonfire.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the official cause was not yet known.
No-one was hurt and the team of emergency responders had finished putting it out by 4.30pm.
Father Robert Lane looks after the nearby church.
He said: "I didn't see the fire start as I was out but when I came back the fire brigade were just arriving.
"It's not happened here in the three years that I've lived here.
"As far as I'm aware all the buildings around us are fine."
