Four fire engines were sent to a field on fire this afternoon.

Crews arrived at The Street near St Giles Church, Wormshill, Sittingbourne, to find four hectares of field alight and a large smoke plume coming from the area.

They used breathing apparatus, a hose-reel jet, fog spikes and beaters to tackle the blaze.

The cause is not yet known.

They were called at 3pm and spent an hour tackling the blaze.
