Firefighters tackled a large undergrowth fire in Iwade.
Four fire engines, an all-terrain vehicle and about 20 firefighters rushed to the blaze in Ridham Dock Road just after 4pm.
They remained at the scene for about three hours after it spread to a large patch of scrubland.
It is not yet known what started the blaze.
