A council’s headquarters is honouring England’s Lionesses ahead of their World Cup Final showdown.
Sarina Wiegman’s squad will play English football’s biggest game in nearly 60 years when they face Spain at Stadium Australia, Sydney at 11am tomorrow.
And to show its support, Swale House is flying an England flag over the council building in East Street, Sittingbourne.
It comes just hours after Southeastern decided to amend the names of three of their railway stations in tribute to some of England’s stars.
Tonbridge has been renamed Toonebridge in support of Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone.
Meanwhile Thanet Parkway has been dubbed Thanet Stanway after Bayern Munich’s Georgia Stanway.
And finally, as well as a cheeky message of “she’s a keeper”, St Mary Cray has been changed to St Mary Earps as a nod to the Lionesses shot-stopper.
After winning last summer’s European Championships, England can go one step further and make history should they claim victory.
Maidstone’s Alessia Russo and Gravesend-born Laura Coombs are likely to be two of the outfit’s clutch players during the match.
Speaking yesterday, Russo said: “This is the biggest game, the one you dream about, and the one that means the most.
“We started this tournament wanting to win seven games and that’s still the message.
“This is the last one to go and we’re all really locked in.”
