The family of a man who died of coronavirus has paid tribute to a "loving husband, father, grandfather and brother".
George Beaney, who set up Bapchild Fruit Stall in Fox Hill, near Sittingbourne, died in the early hours of Monday after spending about a month at Medway Maritime Hospital.
Mr Beaney, who was originally admitted for an ulcer on his foot, had his leg amputated before contracting the virus.
It is then thought the condition left the St Laurence Close resident susceptible to a chest infection. He was 72.
The father-of-three, grandfather-of-17 and great grandfather-of-two set up the food store with the help of his brother about 20 years ago.
His son, John Beaney, has now taken over the running of the business.
Paying tribute to her husband, Carol Beaney said: "George was a one-off character who will never be replaced.
"He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will sadly be missed by us all and his friends."
