A quick-thinking Sittingbourne man saved his grandparents from being conned by rogue builders – and helped to get the fraudsters sent to jail.

Kevin Cracknell, 40, called his grandparents to see how they were, just as builders were at their home trying to make them pay out for unnecessary roof repairs.

Unable to find the company online, Kevin phoned police, who had been looking for the builders and quickly rounded them up.

Three have been jailed for a total of more than 15 years. A fourth was convicted in his absence and is now being hunt.
