A trio of hairdressers proved they were a cut above by being given the honour of styling celebrities at a Dame Vera Lynn tribute night in front the Queen.
The show took place at the London Palladium on Saturday night to a sold-out audience.
Dame Vera turned 100 on Monday and an image of her face was projected onto the White Cliffs of Dover to mark the occasion.
Forever Hair and Beauty in East Street, Sittingbourne, was recommended by a friend to the producers of the show to help with doing the cast’s hair.
The team of three, Natalie Gorman, Danielle Clark and Emily Palmer, were in charge of 30 heads of 1940s hair and also created styles for dancer Bonnie Langford, actress Ann Reid and entertainer Su Pollard.
Salon owner Natalie, said: “It was our biggest challenge yet and it’s so good for us.
“It was absolutely brilliant. It wasn’t stressful at all in the end.”
The show’s cast of 300 included Aled Jones, Sir Tim Rice, Alexander Armstrong and Esther Rantzen and was in front of more than 2,000 people including war veterans.
The Queen was in attendance and the performance raised money for The Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.
Set up in 2001, the charity supports families with children who have cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.
Natalie added: “We didn’t do the hair of as many celebs as we’d hoped but we did Su Pollard, Bonnie Langford and Ann Reid.
“Sadly we couldn’t get to see the show, we had to do Su’s hair and she was a bit late and by the time we’d finished the show had started and we weren’t allowed in.
“On top of that, we ended up missing the second half too but we’ve been told it is coming out on DVD and we’ll get a copy of it.”
A release date for the DVD has not yet been announced.
