House husband Steve Wagstaff is hoping to be crowned Mega Bloke 2012.
Out of hundreds of entries the 44-year-old, has been shortlisted as one of the top 10 men in the UK in a competition run by toy company MEGA Bloks.
The dad-of-three, of Harris Gardens, Murston, was nominated by his wife Lyndsey due to all the roles in the Wagstaff household being in reverse.
While Lyndsey is the one who goes out to work, Steve, a former forklift truck driver, stays at home and cares for their children, Jack, eight, Lois, six, and Amelia, three.
He is their dad, mum, teacher, nurse, doctor, cleaner, gardener, DIYer, and, importantly, Lyndsey’s best friend.
When she fell ill last year and was diagnosed with spondylitis – an inflammation of the vertebra – Steve was there for her every step of the way, caring for her and doing everything for her, bar going into her workplace to do her job.
The client services administrator, who works in London, said: “He would have done that too though if he could.”
All three pregnancies were a struggle for the 33-year-old, each one with its own problems, but again Steve was there holding her hand through all of it.
She said: “Even when I was too big to wash my own hair, he was there in the bathroom waiting for me. As bad as it sounds, although he knows we all love him and think he is the best, we never really do anything special to show him.
“I really want him to know how much I love him. We all think he is fantastic and I will be there for him always, as he has been for me.”
