A man who died from his injuries eight days after being hit by a car has been named as Tomasz Motak.
The 32-year-old Polish national had only been in the country 24 hours.
He was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital following the accident in Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne.
It happened just before 1pm on July 18, as he was crossing the road. He died from head injuries in hospital on July 26.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned by coroner Patricia Harding at the Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone, on Thursday.
The driver of the silver Ford Fiesta, a 37-year-old woman from the town, was not injured.
The road was closed for four hours to allow officers to examine the scene. Witnesses are still being urged to come forward.
Det Sgt Scott Lynch, of Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “I urge anyone who saw what happened to call 01622 798538.”
