Car hunted over shooting in Raspberry Hill Lane area of Iwade before Audi A6 found with bullet holes in Rainham

Detectives investigating a shooting that left a car with bullet holes have released details of a vehicle they want to trace.

Two shots were fired in the Raspberry Hill Lane area of Iwade, damaging a grey Audi A6 later found parked in Rainham.

Officers say they want information on a dark vehicle – possibly a Toyota Avensis or Peugeot 406 – seen in the area at the time.

DC Martin Lacey, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "This is believed to have been an isolated incident, with no reported injuries.

"Officers are continuing to make enquiries to establish the circumstances around the incident and are particularly keen to trace a car which might have been in the area at the time of the incident.

"It is described as dark coloured and possibly a Toyota Avensis or Peugeot 406.

"I would encourage anyone who thinks they have information about this incident to contact police as you might be able to help with our ongoing investigation."

Police were called to reports of shots being fired in the quiet country lane at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, September 3.

Raspberry Hill Lane was sealed off at the junction with Basser Hill and a police helicopter was seen hovering over the area.

The shooting is being linked to the Audi car found with bullet holes in the car park next to Rainham library in Birling Avenue.
