A vintage fire engine stuck in a boggy field was a source of amusement for youngsters last Friday.

The children had just returned to the Woolpack pub in Iwade after completing a scavenger hunt when they came across the appliance stuck in mud behind the village pub.

It was eventually pulled free by a local farmer it’s not known who using a tractor and moved to the car park next to the shops in School Mews for people to admire.

The Easter challenge, which saw participants answering 20 questions about certain items and landmarks around the village, attracted more than 250 youngsters aged from toddlers to teenagers.

Money raised from the £3 entry fee will be split between the village hall, Iwade Nature and Conservation Group and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event, which is now in its third year, was organised by residents Sasha Carrington-Moss, Andy Jennings and Gayna Erwood.
