Sittingbourne manager Joe Dowley has called on his players to show their professionalism as they look to finish a difficult season on a high.
The Brickies are all but certain of remaining in Ryman League Division 1 South as they sit six points ahead of bottom two Whyteleafe and Burgess Hill Town with a vastly superior goal difference with just two games remaining.
Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Folkestone Invicta means Bourne have lost five of their last six games and taken just three points from a possible 42.
Only one team will go down and with Hill facing title-chasing Dulwich Hamlet in their final game, Bourne could stay up even if they lose their two final games against Godalming Town and Walton & Hersham.
Dowley (pictured) said: "We wanted to do the job ourselves but the other two both lost at the weekend so it doesn’t look like we’ll be sucked into the relegation battle."
He added: "We have a couple of games left and we have got to be as professional as we possibly can.
"We are not mathematically safe from relegation yet and so that should be all the motivation the players need on Saturday.
"They are still getting paid by the club and we will carry on trying to finish on a high and go unbeaten in the last two."
