Emergency services were called to Shortlands Road in Sittingbourne last night after a living room fire broke out.
At 11.24pm, two fire engines rushed to the house to extinguish the flames.
They used breathing apparatus whilst they tackled the fire using a hose reel.
A thermal imaging camera was then used to check if the fire had spread and then used a special fan to clear the smoke from the house.
Crews were there for an hour and a half.
A man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
