Two pet owners were injured after a dog on the loose pounced and attacked.
The man and woman were walking their own dogs in an area of parkland close to The Street in Iwade between 1.30pm and 1.45pm on Tuesday, July 14.
A dog, described as a cross between a Staffordshire bull terrier and a boxer, entered the park, off the lead and without an owner.
It attacked their own pet, but as the man tried to stop the aggressive assault, it turned on him, causing him to fall on top of the woman.
The dog then fled in the direction of Redwing Avenue.
The couple got back to their car, which was parked in Kingfisher Close, but the woman had a broken ankle and grazed arm and the man was bitten on his hand and had a bruised leg.
"This was a terrifying attack by an uncontrolled dog on a man who was trying to protect his own dog"
The dog was treated for puncture wounds to its neck.
PC Gemma Windley said: "This was a terrifying attack by an uncontrolled dog on a man who was trying to protect his own dog.
"The attack has resulted in an injury to this man and also his wife, as well as some nasty injuries to a family pet.
"If anyone has any information please come forward. We need to locate this dog to prevent this from happening again."
