A man has died after falling from a bridge on the A249 this afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly after 3.40pm on the Quinton flyover which leads to Bobbing services.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man, who is in his 20s, but they were unable to revive him.

Officers have closed the Sheppey-bound carriageway at Bobbing Bridge and the nearby slip road onto the A249.

The Maidstone-bound carriageway is open, but traffic is very congested.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area.
