Police have made an arrest after a man reportedly ran out of a jewellery store with a £4,000 gold chain round his neck.
The theft was reported to have happened at Battrum & Son in Sittingbourne High Street at around 10am last Saturday.
While inside, the suspect is alleged to have tried on a gold chain before he ran from the store while still wearing the jewellery.
Following the incident, police were called and a man was arrested in town at 7.50pm.
William Brazil, of Barrow Grove, Sittingbourne, has since been charged with theft.
The 30-year-old was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on July 28.
