A man has died after being hit by a car in the early hours of this morning.

The crash happened at 1.44am on the Sheppey Way at Iwade near Sittingbourne.

Police said a white BMW 116 hatchback, travelling north-east towards Sheerness, struck a pedestrian.

Police and ambulance crews attended but the victim, a man in his 30s, was confirmed dead at the scene.

The driver was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage of either the car or pedestrian prior to the collision. Video footage can also be submitted through the police online portal here.
