A man was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a lorry.
Police were called to Newington High Street, near to The Bull Inn, shortly before 5pm yesterday.
It is believed the pedestrian suffered a hip injury and the lorry driver is reported to have driven off after the crash.
A police spokesman said: "The lorry is reported to have left the scene following the collision, inquires are ongoing."
Officers were joined by a crew from the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
An ambulance spokesman said: "The pedestrian was reportedly clipped by a lorry and fell to the floor suffering a potential hip injury.
"He was treated at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital."
The accident happened near road works for Southern Water, there were long queues of traffic in both directions on the A2 through the village.
