A MAN was seriously injured in a road crash on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway of the approach to the Kingsferry Bridge on the A249.

The incident happened at around 3.45pm on Sunday. Police received reports that a Reliant Robin had collided with a people carrier.

The elderly man was taken by air ambulance to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham where he was treated for multiple injuries. His condition is described as stable.

The Sheppey Crossing was closed for a large part of the evening, while a recovery crew attended the scene to recover the damaged vehicles.
