A young fundraiser is preparing to run 26 miles in memory of her mum.
Vicky Mummery, 20, has gained a place in next year's London Marathon raise money for Cancer Research UK. Although she has done charity events in the past and collected about £700, it will be the first London Marathon she has done.
Her target is £2,000 and she has already raised £430. To reach her goal, she is appealing for people to visit her online sponsorship page and donate.
Sports massage therapist Vicky, of Berkeley Court, Sittingbourne, will also be donating 50% of whatever she earns between now and April into her pot.
The cause is close to Vicky's heart after she lost her mum Melinda Payton to cancer in December 2008. She said: "Whilst I can't change the past, I feel I can make a difference to the present along with keeping my mum's memory alive.
"I just hope she continues to be proud of the things I am achieving. I am really excited at being given the opportunity to take part in such an amazing event."
