Sittingbourne are in no hurry to appoint a new manager despite Marc Seager turning them down last week.
The former Bourne player (pictured) took temporary charge for four games in March to cover for the absent boss Joe Dowley and seemed set for a return to management for the first time since leaving Whitstable three seasons ago.
But Seager, 40, said: "I had a long, hard think about it and kept trying to talk myself into taking the job but my heart is not truly in football at the moment.
"Family commitments and my sudden collapse a year ago, which put me in hospital for nine days, means I am looking at life a lot differently now.
"I don’t see myself returning to football in the future and have other goals and ambitions that I want to fulfill."
He added: "I really enjoyed my time there and gave it everything.
"You have to give it total commitment, otherwise people will see through you. How can I ask players for that, when I am not doing it myself?
"I was grateful that Andy (Spice) gave me so much time to think about what I want to do before I told him my decision last Friday."
