Sittingbourne will come to a standstill this weekend to honour fallen heroes on Remembrance Sunday.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Swale, Cllr Ben Stokes and Cllr Sylvia Bennett, will lay a wreath at the war memorial in Central Avenue. After the service, which will take place between 10.20am and 10.45am, the mayor and a representative from the Royal British Legion will take the salute as the parade marches past.

Cllr Stokes said: "Though the world wars may be consigned to history, we still owe a debt that can never be paid back to our Armed Forces engaged in battle today. I hope that this Remembrance weekend the people of Swale stand together as a symbolic gesture to say how much we are behind our brave servicemen and women who have defended, and who continue to defend, our country."
