Colleagues of a 44-year-old man killed in a crash on the A2 on Sunday have praised him and said he will be "greatly missed".

Staff at DHL in Allington were speaking after Jeremy Nicholson died when his red Honda bike was in a crash with a Scania lorry on the A2 at Teynham.

Mr Nicholson worked as a stock clerk for DHL, a postal and logistics group. He was not carrying out work duties at the time.

A spokesman said today: "Our condolences are with his friends and family at this sad time.

"Jeremy was a hard-working, conscientious individual who had been with the company for more than 20 years and will be greatly missed by his colleagues."

Police and ambulance staff were called to the accident, outside the Fowler Welch depot in London Road, at 5.40am on Sunday.

Mr Nicholson, from the Sittingbourne area, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin have been notified. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit conducted an investigation.

The road was closed for forensic work, but was re-opened to traffic at 11am.

A 74-year-old man, from Dover, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed for further investigations until September 22.
