Police had to intervene after a motorist drove the wrong way up the A249 after turning off the Grovehurst roundabout near Sittingbourne.

At 1.50pm today, police were called to reports of a vehicle travelling towards other drivers on the road towards Sheppey.

It is not known at the moment whether the driver in the blue Ford Fiesta made it onto the Sheppey Crossing.

The vehicle was moved onto the hard shoulder by police.
