HE might have come at the bottom end of a table of sexy politicians – but that hasn’t stopped MP Gordon Henderson seeing the funny side.

Mr Henderson is ranked 569 out of the country’s 648 MPs on the website www.sexymp.co.uk

He headed to the Sittingbourne Messenger office to discuss his placing – and spent some time in front of the mirror, hoping to scrub up enough to secure a few more votes.

On the site, users pick which MP they would rather sleep with out of two photos and each one is ranked by how many they win or lose.

Voters can choose whether they want to rank just men, just women or both.

At the time of going to press, users had voted the sexiest MP in the country as Tory Mary Macleod of Brentford and Isleworth.

In Kent, Dover’s Charlie Elphicke was highest at 73rd while Sir John Stanley of Tonbridge and Malling came lowest at 602nd.

Mr Henderson’s ranking puts him 421 places behind Prime Minister David Cameron.

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg is ahead of both of them at 133.

Labour’s Steve McCabe for Selly Oak in Birmingham is ranked at the very bottom of the table.

Mr Henderson, whose position makes him the second least sexy MP in Kent, said he thought his rank was probably fair and he was disappointed he wasn’t bottom.

He added: “I believe [in any contest] you should always be top or bottom.

“It’s a bit of fun.”

The 63-year-old joked that he hasn’t been waking up every morning to check his position.

He also said he would hope to be bottom because he thinks his constituents have more sense than to spend hours voting on the site.

When asked what his wife Louise thought about his ranking, he said she probably thought his case had been “over-stated”.

He added: “I would have been upset if I had been lower than Sir John Stanley – because he really is in his dotage.”
