A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on the M2.
The accident happened just before Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone and the road was closed for nearly two hours.
One car was reportedly facing the wrong way.
At the time of the crash, a spokesman for KCC Highways advised motorists to use alternative routes.
An air ambulance attended and traffic was held London-bound while it took off.
There was about four-and-a-half miles of queuing traffic.
Police were called to the crash at 3.30pm.
A spokesman said: "Officers are at the scene along with Secamb and the air ambulance has been called to assist.
"A man was taken to a London hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"A road closure in place between junctions three and five has now been lifted."
Shortly after 4.14pm, an eyewitness said he had been sitting on the M2, just past the Medway Services, for half an hour.
He added: "Two fire engines, a fire officer car and police have gone past."
