A mum and her partner had a lucky escape after a brick was thrown at their sports car from the side of the road.

Helen Davy says a yob narrowly missed her windscreen with the potentially lethal projectile, as she drove her Porsche Boxster along London Road.

She and partner Tim, who was a passenger, escaped injury, despite the fact the concrete missile struck the vehicle at about 9.20pm on December 28.

Speaking of the thug’s actions, Helen, a mum-of-two, who lives in the town, said: “It’s just a stupid thing to do. They could kill somebody one day.

“I saw something flying in the air and at first I thought it was a bird as it was spinning, but when it came closer it appeared to be more solid,” she said.

The 47-year-old driver believes her quick reactions saved their lives.

“It was sheer luck that I swerved to avoid the brick as it could have been fatal,” she said.

“We were very shaken by the whole ordeal and angered by the damage to the car.”

The teenagers responsible were seen running down the alley that leads to Laburnum Place.

Ms Davy, who is also a teaching assistant, fears the town is slowly becoming unruly.

“It’s a recurring theme in Sittingbourne, the town is becoming lawless, they weren’t old they were young and it makes you think where they’re headed in life,” she said.

In September a HGV driver had a similar escape when teens hurled a brick at his lorry while he was travelling on the along Swale Way in Kemsley.

The attacks echo similar events in Malling where 15 incidents of teens throwing bricks at passing vehicles were reported along stretches of the M20 and A228 since January.

“It’s a mix of boredom but there’s an element of malice there too, it could have been an apple or banana but instead they chose to throw a brick, the intent was different,” said Ms Davy.

“They know the consequences of their actions and what it could do, this has just summed up my fears that eventually someone is going to get hurt.”

Police confirmed they were aware of the attack and are appealing for witnesses.
