The square at the heart of the Spirit of Sittingbourne will be called Bourne Place, it has been revealed.

It was announced after residents were asked to complete a survey, choosing between five different options.

The names shortlisted were Bourne Place, Cockleshell Place, Edward Lloyd Square, Pankhurst Plaza and Watling Square.

A total of 1,120 votes were received.

The space will link the new eight-screen cinema and six new restaurants to the train station.

It is hoped it will attract up to 400,000 visitors to the town every year.
