A sprawling wetland site home to an array of beautiful birds is on the market and could be yours for £655,000.
Little Murston Nature Reserve stretches over more than 163 acres near Eurolink Industrial Estate in Sittingbourne.
It is home to a variety of wildfowl, including geese, moor hens, little grebes, great crested grebes, kestrels, sparrowhawks, hen harriers, peregrine falcons and red-legged partridges.
The land is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and comprises expansive flooded clay pits and disused oyster ponds.
Its freehold is up for sale with estate agent Lambert and Foster which states: “It would be suitable to a variety of leisure, conservation and environmental uses, subject to the necessary consents.”
The reserve is currently leased to the Kent Wildfowl and Conservation Association, who started caring for the site in 2002.
It says a variety of species have been found there, and the most valuable feature of the site is its extensive areas of phragmites reed - one of the largest in the area.
There are also smaller areas of sea club rush fringe in the ditches, rough grazing, thorn scrub and bramble.
