Dunelm in Sittingbourne Retail Park opens new Pausa Kitchen Cafe in refurbishment

Homeware giant Dunelm has added a new cafe to one of its biggest Kent stores as part of a major refurbishment.

The Sittingbourne branch will be unveiling its new look to shoppers on Friday (December 13).

Pausa Cafe has been included in the makeover alongside a “host of improved departments”.

This includes the addition of a new Made to Measure area where orders for custom-made curtains and blinds can be turned around within seven days.

Dunelm has been in Sittingbourne for the past 16 years but bosses say the store’s enormous refit will offer an “upgraded” shopping experience for the town.

As part of celebrations on Friday to mark the shop’s new look, Dunelm is giving away goody bags to the first 30 customers through the doors.

Twenty golden tickets, with vouchers ranging from £5 to £20, will also be hidden around the store for customers to find and spend throughout the day.

Shaun Poulter, store manager at Sittingbourne Dunelm, said: “We’re so excited to welcome everyone to our newly refitted store.

“The team has worked incredibly hard to get everything ready, and we can’t wait to show off our updated new look.”

Dunelm, based at Sittingbourne Retail Park in Mill Way, first sought permission for the cafe in April 2023 and the application was approved that June.

It has not revealed how much the refit has cost.

The retail park is also home to the town’s branch of Homebase, which went into administration four weeks ago.

Seventy Homebase stores across the country have been snapped up by group CDS, which owns The Range and Wilko, securing the future of up to 1,600 jobs.

The future of Sittingbourne’s store, which is one of eight branches of the DIY retailer in Kent, remains unclear.
