A NEW service station will not be allowed to trade 24 hours a day, councillors have ruled.
The Milton Regis Service Station is being built on the corner of St Paul’s Street and King Street.
The owners, BP Connect, had applied to Swale Borough Council’s planning committee to trade 24 hours, with refreshments and alcohol on sale all night.
The idea was opposed by Kent Police and a nearby children’s nursery.
People living nearby had also petitioned against the plan.
During the meeting on Thursday, June 12, the company was granted trading hours from 6am until 11pm, during which time it could sell alcohol.
There were also conditions imposed on the licence. These include ensuring a Challenge 21 scheme is in place to make sure that alcohol is not served to those who are underage, and installing CCTV.
