TWO teenagers have been arrested by police as a crackdown on nuisance motorbikes continues in the Murston area of Sittingbourne.
Members of the Sittingbourne Neighbourhood Team were out in the area tackling nuisance vehicles on the estate in order to deal with any bikes being illegally ridden on the road.
The teenagers were arrested in Hugh Price Close after they were allegedly seen riding on a motorbike which had earlier been reported stolen. A further three motorbikes were also seized from their owners who were found to be uninsured.
Sgt Darren Ryder, of the Sittingbourne Neighbourhood Team, said: "We do not underestimate the problems caused by motorbikes being ridden anti-socially in residential areas. The noise and pollution generated by these vehicles can be a blight on people’s lives.
"We will do everything we can to ensure the issue is tackled. Riding any vehicle uninsured is unacceptable and we will use all powers available to us in an effort to curb this behaviour and seize nuisance vehicles."
* An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, both from Sittingbourne, have been bailed by police pending further enquiries, until January 6.
