The owners of one of Kent's most popular cafés have sold up after 24 years at the helm.

The Tuck Inn, on the A2 between Newington and Rainham, shut its doors this week after the couple that ran it decided to retire.

But the popular eatery, in Hartlip Hill, is due to reopen on Monday under new management.

On review site TripAdvisor it has 4.5 stars and rave reviews of its good value, no-frills Sunday lunches and breakfasts.

Nuno Rodrigues took to social media on behalf of his parents, who were the previous owners of the Tuck Inn, to announced the temporary closure.
He explained that, after 24 years of service, they decided to 'sell-up' and retire.

Customers rallied to offer their gratitude.

Nikki Chawner said: "Wishing your parents a very happy and well deserved retirement. They will be a hard act to follow."

Valerie May replied: "I've been eating here the entire time your parents owned it. We will miss you all."

Nicola Thompson said: "Please pass on our best for their retirement it will not be the same with out them. It's the best place and best food ever - theirs will be a hard act to follow, all the best for the future."

Barry Holyer said: "A very happy retirement to your parents in whatever they decide to do.

"It’s been my go to place for breakfast and lunches for many years - it won’t be the same."
The Tuck Inn will opening under new management on Wednesday.
