Little monsters were invited to make mini beast homes.
The workshop was held at The Pulse Cafe in Park Road, Sittingbourne.
It formed part of the Kent Wildlife Trust’s Painting the Town Green project, which has been made possible thanks to a three-year grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
The scheme is designed to encourage people in urban communities to connect with nature and work together to make their area greener and more wildlife-friendly, learning new skills in the process.
Arts and crafts activities saw youngsters making “disco hedgehogs” and spooky spiders.
People were also invited to guess how many insects were in a jar for the chance to be entered into a prize draw. The winner was Catherine Haynes, who won a home for bugs.
Kent Wildlife Trust urban community engagement officer Claire Bates said: “We want people to turn their outdoor areas into havens for wildlife, whether they are balconies, gardens or communal spaces.”
More free wildlife-themed activities will be held in the Sittingbourne area every month until early 2015.
