Two men have been arrested following a report of thefts from boats in Upchurch.

Police were called to a boatyard in Shoregate Lane at 3.40am this morning following a report of a burglary taking place inside.

A number of boats were reportedly broken into.

Items including power tools, which were understood to have been stolen, were recovered by officers near to the scene.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of theft.

A 31-year-old man from Chatham and a 26-year-old man from Gillingham remain in police custody while enquiries are ongoing.
