Police, paramedics and an air ambulance have descended on a high street after a man was stabbed.
Emergency Service crews were pictured searching in bushes along North Street in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne after reports of a serious assault.
It is understood that an air ambulance landed at Milton Recreation Ground at around 11.40am and left shortly after midday.
A police spokesman said: “At around 12.15pm police were called to a report of a serious assault in North Street, Sittingbourne.
“Officers attended alongside South East Coast Ambulance service and a man has been taken to hospital with an injury consistent with a stab wound.
“Officers remain on scene to conduct a thorough area search, house-to-house enquiries, and review CCTV.”
A witness said officers had cordoned off one lane of the road and the pavement outside a row of terraced houses by Regis Manor Primary.
They said: “Something has happened right outside the school. The police are looking in the bushes and it is a really tiny cordon that they’ve put up.
“They’re still searching these bushes which are just yards from the primary school. They’re asking people in the area if they’d heard anything from 5am today.”
Witnesses also claimed police have asked for CCTV from the flats opposite the scene in Frobisher Close.
A mum, who did not wish to be named, said: "I don't know what's happened. I have just turned up to collect my kids from school and have seen all the police. It is a bit worrying, being that close to the school."
Another woman who did not wish to be named said: “Someone said there was meant to be screaming but I didn't hear anything. I live just across the road so I want to know what has happened."
A member of staff at TJ’s E-Cigarettes on Milton Regis High Street said there was a big emergency presence in the area.
They said: “There was definitely something going on. There were two police cars, a couple of ambulances, a critical care car and an air ambulance.”
Regis Manor Primary was contacted for comment, however, staff at reception were unaware of the situation.
